Boris Berezovsky,
Entrepreneur

Berezovsky acquired Mukhtar

In the Foggy Albion an anti-customs union is getting formed

It looks like a new influential group is getting composed in London. Boris Berezovsky has become famous for a series of revolutions in the former Soviet Union, now he is actively seeking for new allies to achieve such ambitious objectives like the "Tulip Revolution” in a small country in Central Asia”. One can assume that at this time it is about the erosion of the basement under the Customs Union. The former head of BTA Bank Mukhtar Ablyazov is going to become a «cashier" for Berezovsky.

Byelorussia was unable to choose between Russia and Western partners while a lot depended on it in the customs threesome. Lukashenko's loyalty to the West affected it greatly. They even had to apply to the British PR-guru - Timothy Bell, who created the image of Byelorussia and its president in 2008. Meanwhile, Lord Bell, having in his background three successful election campaigns of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, became known as a personal PR-consultant of Boris Berezovsky in the CIS. As the Minsk press wrote, Bell was not as engaged in imaging Lukashenko as in his ties to Berezovsky. Thus, one could associate those "advices" by Lord Bell with the fact that Byelorussia denied the incipient process of the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Perhaps, it also explains the blackmailing of the Kremlin started by Minsk on the establishment of the Customs Union, and the political asylum granted to former Kyrgyz President, Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

It is clear that Boris Berezovsky would resist the collapse of his own "orange projects" and the post-Soviet integration started for opposing them. Are there cartridges remained in the holder of the disgraced oligarch for such a struggle? The cash of overspend "London Underground" is said to be replenished with funds of the money player joining Berezovsky recently. That was Mukhtar Ablyazov, the former head of BTA Bank, wanted by the law enforcement bodies of Kazakhstan and Russia. The banker was suspected of embezzling $ 10 billion - such a financial cushion would enable the London "oligarchic International” to aim at the new ambitious political projects, which would compensate Berezovsky's failure in previous projects.

A few days ago his "color" project failed in Kyrgyzstan. Before that, "orange" President of Ukraine, Yushchenko left his post. Apparently, not much time is left for another protege by Berezovsky - Georgian President Saakashvili. By the way, that was Georgia where the paths of Berezovsky and Ablyazov got crossed at once. However, Ablyazov joined the financing policies of Mikhail Saakashvili a bit later, but also managed to invest in the establishment of "Georgian democracy". In January 2006 Saakashvili even granted Mukhtar Ablyazov with Order of Honor for special merit before Georgia and awarded an honorary citizenship of the country.

Now, in addition to joint projects in Georgia, Berezovsky and Ablyazov have yet another common business – the media reports they plan a "crusade" against President Nursultan Nazarbayev - one of the "fathers" of the Customs Union and a close friend of Putin - in the homeland of the Kazakh banker. During the recent events in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, Mukhtar Ablyazov betrayed their revolutionary plans through the appeal to his compatriots, urging people to follow the example of the Kyrgyz opposition. Then Kazakh banker Ablyazov is not going to settle the role of "cash" for the Russian oligarch. They say that due to the attempts to return to Kazakhstan on a white horse, Ablyazov initiated a meeting with Berezovsky. On the one hand, the Kazakh businessman needed the contact with the image-maker Bell, who could restore his reputation in the West. On the other hand, according to some sources, Boris Abramovich could use his contacts in London and Washington - to intercede for the request by the Kazakh authorities for the extradition of Ablyazov received through Interpol, in connection with a multibillion-dollar fraud charges.

Considerable resources have already been involved to save the image of Kazakhstani businessman - recently the press trumpeted that "the International Court in Strasbourg refused to extradite Mukhtar Ablyazov to Kazakhstan”. The "duck" was stuffed - Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General's Office filed a request for extradition of Ablyazov to law enforcement agencies in Great Britain, not in France. But the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights is not engaged in extradition - on the contrary, it is designed to protect the rights of citizens who are not satisfied with the decision of national courts. Not to mention the fact that Kazakhstan is not included in the Council of Europe, and therefore, in principle, the Kazakh citizens can not file petitions to the European Court of Human Rights.

Why is it Strasbourg then? Besides, Ablyazov’s businesses are directed by an experienced PR expert, whose task is to "launder" the client, and at the same time to raise an anti-Kazakhstani wave in the media. When anticipating the situation, one would conclude that anti-Kazakhstani hysteria by Boris Berezovsky is going to begin about the funds of Ablyazov in the West the same as has already started in Belarus; its aim is to destroy completely the triple alliance of Moscow, Minsk and Astana. It looks like it is a new idea, around which an "oligarchic International" can rally with headquarters in London.
